Year 7 December news

What has been happening in the Year 7 team this term?

It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter for the year; it only seems like yesterday the Year 7 students were sitting in the hall on day one waiting anxiously for their names to be read out!

The Year 7 team have all had great days out at St Kilda beach working through the Beach Education programme that is hosted by Surf Life Saving New Zealand and we have mostly had excellent weather! Beach education and surf safety is a vital skill  for all New Zealand children to have and we are grateful for all our parent helpers (I know getting in that chilly water is not easy!)

Futsal South came to school and ran a class vs class tournament.  Futsal was one of our games that we have been focusing on during PE and so it was perfect timing that this opportunity arose for the tournament.  Room 10 and Room 1 were the classes with the most goals scored and they battled it out in a penalty shoot out - a high pressure situation! Room 10 were the winners and they walked away with the trophy.  It was an excellent morning and thanks again to Futsal South for the opportunity.

All classes have been working on their Term 4 ASPIRE inquiry of How can we tell our story (through dance and drama) and we will be hosting our Inquiry showcase on Friday.  There are plays, raps, dances, stop motion videos and lots more! It will be really exciting to see the different takes on How can we tell our story that each class comes up with and it is great to see the progress in inquiry throughout the year.

This leads me to sign off the Year 7 news for 2015 - as always thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year and I am wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday break.
