Year 8 News

Wow. We are now 4 weeks into the term already! Time is certainly flying by. Read on to see what we have been up to.

It was a hectic start to the term with the High School orientation programmes and the open nights.   We wish you all the best with your enrolments, especially when applying for limited spaces or if you are out of zone.

Our topic this term is Impact.  This will set the students investigate the following questions...

- What impact do I / we have on our environment?

- Can I / we make a difference?

The students will participate in many saturation activities including attending the Orokonui Eco-sanctuary, completing an ecological footprint challenge, visiting the art gallery, and  undertaking an Aspire investigation.    It is a very hands on topic and we are looking forward to the sharing of the photography portfolios and the trash to treasure items.  We will be having a sharing night on Wednesday 27th September where you will be able to view your child's endeavours.  More details will follow closer to this time.

Congratulations to all students who completed the school cross country run.  It was great to see grit and determination displayed by the students to complete the course.  With our school athletics on the last day of term our physical education programme will now begin to focus on the associated running, throwing and jumping events.

Kind regards

The Year 8 Team
