Hockey teams braving the cold weather in Friday night competition.

The hockey season is off to a good start. With all 3 Balmacewen teams posting some good wins

Our A team (Balmac Blue) has a mixture of year 8 and year 7 players.  They are working hard to learn new skills in their practices on Wednesdays under the careful guidance of coaches Jan Johnstone and Miss Lauren Roney.

The Balmac Blue team have had some very close games and have come out on top in most of them, their best matches so far being a 2-1 win over John McGlashan College and a 3-3 draw with Tahuna Normal Intermediate.

The Balmac Red team has a number of new players this year who have never played hockey before in the 11 aside form of the game. They are gelling well as a team with help from their coaches Georgia Johnston and Mrs Quelch. So far they have won all of their games in the 2nd division.

The Balmac Green team is coached by Mr Mark Henderson.  This team has a number of beginner players who are still learning the rules of the game.

We are enjoying a good amount of support from our parents and families on the sidelines, and are grateful to them for coming out and enduring the cold weather on their Friday night.

We our last  game for the term tonight (3 July) and no games over the school holidays. Hockey will resume on the first Friday of term 3.
