Year 8 Mihi Whakatau

Today we began our prep for welcoming the Year 7 students and the new staff into our school.
The Mihi Whakatau for welcoming the Year 7 students into Balmacewen Intermediate sprang into life today. Over the next 2 weeks we will have daily lessons to be ready for this important occasion.
It is a great opportunity for the students to take on board a variety of leadership roles from the karanga, whaikorero, playing instruments and leading the singing. There were numerous students today who took on the challenge of leading waiata and playing instruments. Kia Kaha to all those thinking about participating in this event.
All families are invited to attend this welcome ceremony which is scheduled at the end of Week 3.
