Term 1 Touch

With 10 teams entered in the Oval Junior Tournament Balmacewen was well represented with touch teams.

We have had a full range of weather conditions from balmy 30 degree afternoons to freezing windy days to play some great touch.  A big thank-you to all of our coaches and referees who have helped us out this term, especially our teachers, parents, ex-students and Otago Touch representatives who have volunteered their time.

Our Junior Referees have been out in force again with every Junior game in the first 2 rounds being refereed by a Balmacewen Junior Referee.  Its a tough job as you have to coach on the go.

Balmacewen Mixed and Tornadoes teams made their respective finals. Both teams played some excellent touch but unfortunately both teams lost.  Balmacewen Mixed lost 5-4 to  Carisbrook  in the final seconds when a dive at the line was declared  touched before touchdown by the referee,  and The Tornados lost to Tahuna in a drop-off that went down to 3 on 3 in an exciting game.
