SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE - TERM 2

By Sara Quelch | Posted: Wednesday July 1, 2015

This term we are working in 'Social Action' groups to start trying to address some issues students have raised around the school.

We are currently looking into the possibilities of getting air fresheners for the library foyer, installing a drinking fountain in the heights area, making the Chapman St entrance a safer place to cross the street (particularly fist thing in the morning), designing a more effective bell system and looking at other possible playground equipment. Not all of these things will be possible but we are working through the process of putting forward a proposal with possible solutions and costings, to present a case to Mr Hunter and The Board of Trustees.

We also held a 'Cash or Can' mufti day recently as a fundraising venture for Term 2. We collected a lot of cans and non-perishable food items which were donated to the Food Banks at Anglican Family Care to help families in need after the flooding experienced this term. Those who brought a cash donation made a contribution to St Johns which was one of the 4 charities our school chose to support at the start of the year.

We are currently planning a school disco for Term 3 so stay tuned for more information.
