Year 7 Art Exhibition

Summerset residents were recently WOWED by the 40 finalists in the Year 7 Art Exhibition.

In term 1 all Year 7 students completed an Inquiry unit.  We looked at Identify and Connecting with our past, present and future.  It was a great topic to start the year off, as we all got to learn a bit more about ourselves and our fellow classmates.

The end product was to produce a piece of art, based on New Zealand Artist Nigel Browns work.  In the last week of term we had a school Art exhibition where parents and other students came through the classrooms to see the finished product.  Out of this 40 students were selected to be part of the exhibit at Summerset Retirement Village.

The finalists were judged by two Summerset residents Dr John Mein and Pam Larson, along with our very own Deputy Prinicpal Mrs Quelch.  Mrs Quelch commented on the high calibre of art work and how proud all students should be.

Our award winners were:

WINNER

Ashleigh Allum - Room 3

HIGHLY COMMENDED

Mia Parsons - Room 7
Mridula Mannan - Room 10
Isabella Sander  - Room 7

SUMMERSET PEOPLES CHOICE

Felix Hill - Room 3

Congratulations to all students who completed their Nigel Brown ASPIRE and to those that made it through to the final. The feedback from Summerset residents has been extremely positive and I am sure this will become an annual event.
