Message from the Principal

We have enjoyed an excellent start to Term 2, helped by some warm autumnal weather!

Term 2 has started with typical energy and activity. This term our learning focus is based around science and technology. Classes will be hypothesising, investigating, measuring and making throughout the term and integrating many new skills along the way. Friday's this term will see our "full steam ahead" programme engage students in a wide range of projects. In our first session today it was great to see students working together and learning new skills. As the term progresses I'm looking forward to watching the fun unfold as  personal projects start taking shape.

Thanks to the generous support of the Otago Community Trust, we have recently installed 8 new 70 inch interactive panels in classrooms. These panels are giant touch screens with an integrated computer. They allow for some fantastic learning opportunities and have definitely opened new and exciting possibilities for teachers and students.

It was a pleasure this week to be in our Performing Arts Centre and watch Sue Mepham, Jo Brusse and Olivia Pike, our three talented music teachers, working together with our girls choir. It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when you have talent, energy and enthusiasm. The variety of music the choir is encountering and the high level of instruction available is impressive. Music and Performing Arts add so much life to our school and it's great to see so many students enjoying these activities.

Our winter sports programme is now in full swing. Thank you to parents and caregivers who have offered help with coaching or managing. It is much appreciated.  There is an expectation that sports fees are paid before your child plays. Sports uniform is handed out on this basis so to avoid any disappointment for children, please pay through the school office. If you require any support or wish to discuss payment, please contact us.

Nga mihi nui
