Full STEAM ahead!

Term Two has got off to a flying start with lot's of interesting and exciting activity. STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) programmes have been to the fore!

What will the workforce look like in 10 years time? What skills and knowledge will our children need to ensure they are equiped for a changing world?

Our focus on science this term has prompted many interesting and innovative learning experiences where students have posed questions, tested and observed to gain understanding. Add in our newest learning area, the CAMLAB and we are providing amazing opportunities for students to learn many new skills. I encourage all students to make the most of this facility and the expertise of Phillipa Dick our CAMLAB teacher. Skills and knowledge in activities  such as coding, robotics, virtual reality, 3d design and printing, electronics and control are definitely growth areas in the school. It's exciting to watch the progress of students as they learn through doing, solving problems and creating new ideas.

Well done to all students who are involved in a winter sport. The uptake as usual is huge and we are enjoying seeing so many teams representing Balmacewen. A big thanks to staff and parents who generously give their time to coach and manage.

There's plenty of great news in this newsletter, well done to everyone for continuing to make our school a great place to be!

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
