Well done, you've made it to the end of Term One!

Time flies when you're having fun! It has been an action packed term with many highlights.

There is much to celebrate as we finish Term One.

Year 7 students should be very pleased with the way they have started at Balmacewen. As a group they now look very settled and comfortable at school and are really beginning to take full advantage of the opportunities on offer. It has been great to see the increase in confidence and also the establishment of friendship groups throughout the term.

Our Year 8 students have provided sound leadership and have set the standard for conduct and behaviour. The development of school leaders is a continual process and already it is great to see Year 8 students displaying this in a variety of fields.

My advice to all students could be summed up in the phrase, "carpe diem", (seize the day). If there are opportunities to take, tasks to be done, new learning to encounter, then GO FOR IT! Learning is best when a student is an active participant in the process and where a "growth mindset" and "can do" attitude is in place.

If you have visited school recently you will have noticed that our second stage of building development is well underway. Classes in this block will be back into their rooms at the start of Term Two. We are very pleased with the progress to date  and students and staff are enjoying their new surroundings.

I thank all staff at Balmacewen for their excellent work over the term and wish all staff and students a safe holiday break. I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready to go for a great Term Two.

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
