Term One done and dusted!

It has been a very busy and successful term.

It seems hard to believe that we are at the end of Term One. As you will see in this newsletter, there have been many highlights and achievements.

As I walked around our school at lunchtime yesterday I was reminded just how diverse and engaged our students are.

I walked into the Performing Arts Centre where a student was playing beautiful piano and singing in full voice, the dance room had a group of self motivated Year 7 students having fun dancing together. I then walked outside to see about 30 boys engaged in a full on tackle game of rugby. An entertaining sight with some great skills on show! Then into the Camlab and students are independently using robots and coding. Focussed, sharing and clever.

The tone and atmosphere in our playground is impressive. Our school values of kindness and respect are readily visible and I thank our students and staff for making it so.

Our Year 7 students have settled fantastically well into our school. It is so good to see our new students looking confident and happy in their new school environment. Following on from a very successful Year 7 camp season, our classes are looking great. It was wonderful to see the huge variety of projects on display in their recent Turangawaewae inquiry. Some lovely  use of design, technology and construction in telling their family stories.

Likewise with our Year 8 group who have provided the necessary leadership and energy to help our new students settle into Balmacewen. The Year 8 Zoo inquiry has been fun and engaging. It has been great to see the design and thought process that has gone into these projects.

I hope everyone enjoys a happy and safe term break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at the start of Term Two.

Kind Regards
