Athletics

All students at Balmacewen take part in our school Athletics Day. From this event, students are selected to represent Balmacewen at the North Zone Athletics Championships at the Caledonian in Term 4. From North Zones students have the opportunity to qualify and represent Balmacewen at the Otago Primary School Athletics Championships at the Caledonian, in Term 4 as well. 

Students are selected for individual events as well as relays.

During Terms 3 & 4 each classroom delivers an Athletics fundamental programme in prepar has 4 swimming sessions that are delivered by Just Swim. The lessons are based around the water skills for life programme. The programme has a focus on the skills and knowledge, children need to make assess risks and make smart decisions around the water.  These lessons are run at Moana Pool. Our classes walk to and from Moana Pool with there teachers.
