Hello Balmacewen Community! Amadeo here with an update on how you can join in the Fun Science sessions from home while we are on lockdown again.

Following the experience of lockdown from last year the livestreams are back at the same time where the sessions would take place, and there are four as follows:

1. Fun Science at the Gasworks. Every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 5pm. This term we are focused on the topic of photography and videography of experiments, from slow mo sequences of fast experiments like explosions to time lapses of slow experiments like growing crystals.

2. Fun Science at Moana Pool. Every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. This Term we are focused on Aquabots and underwater experiments that can be filmed by this underwater drones. Your bath or sink will do for the lockdown livestreams.

3. Fun Science in Spain. Every Thursday from 5pm to 6pm. This Term we are focused on cooking Spanish dishes, from the science of making churros to making a Spanish tortilla! Prepare your kitchen to explore Spanish culture, science, and learn some Spanish too as we cook!

4. Fun Science at the observatory. Every Friday from 7pm to 9pm. This Term we are focused on astrophotography and experiments about chaos and order in the universe, from fractals to the mind blowing infinity!

Each session has different timings based on the bookings made at the place they take place in, but for the livestreams the sessions will all start when we’d usually meet and go for 30 minutes. Following that there can still be interaction through comments and extension activities.

Hope everyone is going well at home, let’s do what we know is best, from getting the vaccines to keeping healthy and well while we are home.

I’ll end with one important thing for every day: remember to have fun! And if it is fun science even better!

See you all in the livestreams!

Amadeo.
