In the first two weeks of this term Room’s 5, 6 and 26 have been doing fitness as part of the FFF rotations (Fitness, Food, Focus). It has been great fun to do.

As part of the fitness group we learnt the benefits of exercise and what impact it can have on us in the future. We learnt that fitness strengthens bone and helps the brain concentrate. It also affects the mood of people. Les Mills came over to Balmacewen for a teach session. They told us how important fitness was to the body and after we got to do some games. At the end of the session we were told how important stretches were and the problems that you could get if you don’t do them.

During FFF sessions we watched some videos that show what fitness does to the body like it helps strengthen bones and lowers the chance of being obese. On the last day of fitness World Gym Instructors came to school and they put all the boys in one group and the girls in another. The boys went outside to do some physical fitness and the girls stayed in the hall to do a strength workout. After a while we swapped over and the boys did the strength workout and the girls did the physical fitness. After we had a talk about if we should do weights or go to a gym. They said that you didn’t need to because children's bones and muscles were still growing it would be good to do if you were about 14 to 15+ it was a great session and we hope to do it again.
