Year 7 News - Term 3

Kapa haka, Mathletics, Band Quest, Chess regionals, Cross country, Disco and Hip Hop!

There has been so much to celebrate and acknowledge across all areas of our school as our students shine in many co-curricula and sporting events over the last term.

Last week one group of students from each of our classes had the opportunity to go and present at Runaway play their complete Discovery PBL creatures. It was fantastic to see their confidence, knowledge and enthusiasm presenting their animals that were believable, realistic and adapted to our frozen planet! Thank you to the CEO Zoe and her team including Bryce and Jonas who have supported us in this PBL and we hope you enjoyed the work that was shared from each class.

Next term we move onto a new curriculum focus in the ARTS. Our term topic for PBL is called pARTicipate. Out students will rotate around ignitor activities in Dance, Drama and Digital Music before working on a performance for a parents night later in the term.

This also ties in with our wider school event with our Production of "Grimm- Once upon a musical" which will be on in Week three - October 28-29th. Our students will also have a session of dance with an educator from the New Zealand Ballet too. To tie in with the ARTS focus we will also be going to the Art Gallery for a visual art and storytelling focus. Our Literacy programme will begin with a focus on Speeches before moving in to Narrative writing using twisted fairytales as our inspiration.

Our Term Four EOTC event for Year 7 is our Rock climbing day at Long Beach. Teachers will share their class dates with you and this will need the support and assistance of up to 8 helpers per class to successfully run the day.
