Message from the Principal

Kia orana!

We are well into our Term 3 programmes and it's great to see such a wide variety of activity around the school. There's so much to look forward to as we head into the second half of the term.

Thank you to all students who contributed to our Open Night. It's so nice to see our rangatahi proudly sharing their knowledge and skills with visiting parents and children. People are Balmacewen's greatest asset and this was definitely the case during Open Night.

At Open Night I mentioned the three most common things parents talk about when thinking about their child at school. To be happy, to get along with others, to do the best they can. These are fundamental to a child's school experience and things that we address consistently through our values of respect and kindness and our Balmac Super Skills.

I do appreciate that our Year 8's have also been on the Open night trail. Sometimes this can have an unsettling effect on our tamariki as they consider their options next year. Hopefully we are back to focussing on the present and ready to make the most of the opportunities for the rest of the year!

I wish to thank our outgoing Board of Trustee members for their excellent service to Balmacewen. Our school has been fortunate indeed to have had such a skilled and cohesive group of parent representatives. My sincere thanks to you all.

Congratulations to new incoming Board members, Elaine Hargreaves, Rachel Faitala-Malae, Madiha Farid and Tom Bullock. Thank you for putting yourselves forward to support our school. It's much appreciated.

As always, if I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to call.

Ngā mihi maioha
