The Kapa Haka had an incredible time at Polyfest 2025. I tino kaha me ngakau nui te whakawhakaari o te Kapa Haka o Balmacewen!
We have a large roopū of 145 rangatahi. This diverse group embodies the whakatoukī, “He waka eke noa”. Together we had a very cohesive, spirited and respectful group who did a powerful performance honouring Te Hokowhitu-a-Tū, the 28th Māori Battalion.
We are so grateful for the support from teachers and whānau, including several ex-pupils who came to tautoko the Kapa Haka.
The catch-cry of Te Hokowhitu-a-Tū was “Kia kaha” - be strong! Kapa Haka, reminds us that our strength is formed through strong connections within a group, whether that be a class, sports team, music group, kapa haka or whānau. Nō reira, kia kaha koutou!
