Term One...... done!

It's the end of Term One. A great time to rest and recharge.

Kia ora e te whanau

It has been a very busy and enjoyable term. There have been obvious challenges with Covid hitting our school and community but despite the interruptions we have managed tremendously well. Mainly this has been due to the flexibility and good nature of our staff to go above and beyond normal expectations.

Our programmes have mainly stayed intact with some slight variations and it has been great to see the positive attitude of Balmacewen students shining through. The activities that contribute to our school culture, such as outdoor education, music, kapahaka and sports have all continued and have been an important part of our new normal.

We also continue to focus on our school values of Perseverance, Excellence, Respect and Kindness. It's been fantastic to see how this is put into practice around our school. Our values are a daily conversation in our school as we seek to develop independent, thoughtful young people who are aware, honest and responsible.

As the term finishes there has been a flurry of PBL activity. Some excellent examples of creativity and problem solving on show as well time management and organisation. Well done everyone!

Finally, I hope everyone enjoys a safe and healthy term break. A good chance to refresh. Let's hope the run of nice autumn weather continues. Spare time in the holidays doesn't always mean more time for gaming or social media. I encourage everyone to find a good balance and find activity that might not be in front of a screen!

I look forward to seeing everyone back for the start of Term Two.

Kind Regards

Andrew Hunter
