Year 8 Camp
A big Kā Mihi (thank you) to all of our camp helpers. All classes are grateful for your contribution to ensure we were able to attend camp. Whether it was transporting students, helping run activities, or staying overnight, without your assistance this trip would not have been possible. Thank you for helping to create lifelong memories.
Week 7 Art Gallery Trip
As part of our Impact Integrated Unit we have planned a visit to the Dunedin Art Gallery to complete an artwork that ties in with our integrated theme. Our exciting topic is based on Challenges and Decision Making. Room 26 attended last Friday and created a watercolour artwork based on emotions. It promises to be an exciting activity to undertake.
Otago Boys’ and Otago Girls’ High Schools – Musical
All Year 8 classes have been invited by Otago Boys’ and Otago Girls’ High Schools to attend the dress rehearsal of their joint musical production of 'Once Upon a One More Time'. The visit is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16. We will be leaving school at 9:00 am and returning by 12:15 pm.
There is no cost for this event, as transport is being generously provided by Otago Boys’ and Otago Girls’ High Schools.
Term 2 PBL - Decision Making
This term, our integrated theme is “Choose Our Path.” As part of our health unit, we’ve had the privilege of hosting Tama from Attitude NZ, who shared valuable insights with our Year 8 students, sparking important conversations about decision-making and wellbeing. We will also have Harold and the Life Education Trust undertake a similar focus in two weeks’ time.
The students are now exploring a specific decision-making lifestyle choice. They will be researching the most relevant up-to-date facts, while also encouraging their peers to think critically about making choices that align with their values and long-term goals. Hopefully your child has shared their PBL work and you have had meaningful discussions around this topic.
