Balmacewen rocks out Bandquest!

Competing against bands from around Otago at day 2, each band had to perform 2 songs within a 6-minute set. The competition consisted of a warmup round in the afternoon at sound check, making sure everyone was happy with the set up and the gear provided. Then the competition was on in the evening session in front of a packed audience.

In an environment when anything can happen and judging is tight, each band performed their two songs at high level. We had great comments from the crowd, and everyone enjoyed being able to show how much work they had put in over the past terms of rehearsing. Well done to The Eighth Hour (Dain, Will, Emerson, Piper, Saanvika, Lucy X, Fraser, Charlie), Discombobulating (Amelia, Kore-Jane, Milo, Sawyer, Leo), White Lies (Lyra, Leon, Ainur, Eleanor, Sadie, Ben W, Emily, Annabelle) and Active Acid (Lucy B, Mark, Ben, Elijah). A special well done to Leon who came away with the Specialist Instrumentalist award through his Saxophone playing, and to Active Acid who won the original composition award through their song they wrote “When the world came falling down”.
