Year 7 Anatomy Museum

As part of our Term Three focus, all Year 7 classes went to the Anatomy Museum as an ignitor for our body unit.

The Anatomy museum is a teaching museum usually accessed only for the University of Otago students. We were lucky enough to be able to have a talk about the history of the Anatomy museum, how they make the models and a chance to explore the many exhibits both real and made.

It was amazing to see and touch different sections that showed our body systems, organs and also see the diseased parts of bodies also.

Many questions about how the body works were generated from this trip to be followed up in class for further research an investigation over the next few weeks. We learnt about the history of the museum and what "cadavers" were also.

The chance to look inside the body literally was a privilege for the year 7 classes and a great ignitor for our unit as well as a reminder of our fragile and precious our bodies are.
