Dear Parents/Caregivers

Weather permitting, the Balmacewen Intermediate Cross Country will be held at school on Friday 6th August (Week 2 Term 3). The postponement date is Friday 20th August. It will take place between 1.15pm and 2.45pm, with the students running at the approximately following times:

Races/Categories

Year 7 girls 1.20pm

Year 7 boys 1.40pm

Year 8 girls 2.00pm

Year 8 boys 2.20pm

The results of these races will be used to select the students who will represent Balmacewen Intermediate at the Intermediate Schools Cross Country at Kaikorai Valley College on Friday 10th September (postponement date: 17th September). The top 12 times from each category go through to the Otago Cross Country. You must participate in the school cross country on the day or reserve day to be eligible. We will have a reserve day on Monday 9th for those that were unable to attend on the day with advised circumstances. Please note that this is only for those that have advised their teachers.

Students will need to have a nutritious lunch on the day of the cross country and they will need to have a water bottle at school. They are expected to wear the correct sports uniform; navy shorts, the school PE t.shirt, sports shoes and socks. The students should also have their jersey or school tracksuit jacket and their dark blue track pants to put on afterwards. If students wish to wear house colours they may, however, there is to be no vivid or facepaint used.

Students will still come to school in their correct school uniform and will change into their PE gear at lunchtime.

As always we welcome and appreciate the support of all parents, friends and relatives.

Kind regards,

Bella James and Hannah Cowie
