Cricket

Each year Balmacewen enters the New Zealand Cricket Cup (boys) and Shield (girls). We have a strong tradition of success in both competitions, regularly playing off for Otago/Southland honours. Last year (2018) both our boys team and girls team progressed through to the National finals which were held in Lincoln in November. Our boys team has also been in the National finals in 2014 and 2016. Teams are selected in Term One and the competition concludes in Term Four depending on the team's progress.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BALMACEWEN GIRLS TEAM WHO WON THEIR OTAGO SHIELD FINAL AGAINST QUEENSTOWN! THEY NOW HEAD TO CHRISTCHURCH IN TERM 4 FOR NATIONALS.

There is also a girls cricket competition run by Otago Cricket, played on a Wednesday at 4.00-5:30pm. This competition runs over a six week period, starting on the 13th February and finishing on the 20th March. A notice/permission slip will be sent home with students who have showed an interest in playing.

Teachers in Charge: Andrew Hunter (Boys) - ahunter@balmacewen.school.nz and Paul Kemmett (Girls) pkemmett@balmacewen.school.nz
