Each year Balmacewen enters the New Zealand Cricket Cup (boys) and Shield (girls). We have a strong tradition of success in both competitions, regularly playing off for Otago/Southland honours. Last year (2018) both our boys team and girls team progressed through to the National finals which were held in Lincoln in November. Our boys team has also been in the National finals in 2014 and 2016. Teams are selected in Term One and the competition concludes in Term Four depending on the team's progress.
A playing and skill development opportunity for female cricketers in Years 5-8 happening this Sunday, 8th March. This is set to be a great day and forms part of a Dunedin Cricket District based development programme for Boys and Girls. Any and all players in Dunedin and North Otago Cricket Competitions (School and Club) are invited to register for the day.
The aim of this day is to give players an additional opportunity to play and develop their skills under experienced coaches. I would highly encourage you all to take up this skill development opportunity and play with and against girls from other clubs. The female sessions will be split by year groups; Years 5/6 and Years 7/8. There is a small cost of $5 for the day which will be put towards coaching, balls and facility costs.
