Sport at Balmacewen is highly valued and remains vital to our students' experience throughout their time at school. We have an equal approach and see the benefit in sport that caters for both the competitor and the social sportsmen and sportswomen.
Our staff, volunteer parents and local sporting organizations bring a wealth of coaching and managerial experience to our in-school sports teams. Students who attend Balmacewen are given quality sports experiences.
Summer and Winter sports teams compete in local weekly competitions. Balmacewen students are regular attenders at Swimming, Cross Country and Athletic meetings at a local and regional level.
Balmacewen Intermediate School is home to a shared Indoor Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball and Netball Facility, 3 artificial Tennis Courts that double as a Hockey turf and outdoor Basketball and Netball courts during the winter months, the availability of grass cricket wickets and cricket training nets on Bishopcourts, Rugby and football fields.

Balmacewen sporting code of conduct Code-of-Conduct.pdf
Balmacewen has made Health and Physical Education a focus area. We understand that when children are fit, healthy and have a high self esteem, they become better learners. We also recognise that there are many intangible qualities within sport which can't be taught, like team work, comradary and how to deal with winning and losing.
Balmacewen also has a weekly House Sport competition. Each House Group competes against other houses to gain points for the Clarke Cup. Year 8 students are selected as House Captains and Deputy House Captains at the beginning of Term 1 and lead their House Groups in annual school sporting events as well as at House Sport.
